Milwaukee Tool’s New Ratchets & Wrench-Compatible Sockets

Working in tight spaces is never fun, especially as a mechanic. Bolts on everything you work on do not make life easy. So, one of your best friends in your toolbox would be your ratchet. From under the hood and into the interior, it is the preferred tool needed in the garage. One significant drawback with any ratchet is being able to fit into tight spaces. Sometimes, a particular job, task, or part is crammed into an impossible place, even with your most miniature ratchet. Then, you must get creative and use extenders or adaptors to get to that part. There is nothing wrong with these tools, but they add more steps to what an effortless process should be.

Milwaukee Tool innovates all its tools for the job, and it does so to improve the workflow of professional tradespeople. So, how did they do it this time? They did it by looking into the tool’s design and what is inside it. It should fit in your hand, be able to fit into small places, and needs to handle the rough and tough grit of any garage. The Slim Profile Ratchets & Wrench-Compatible Sockets will make working under the hood easier for a demanding job.

What Did Milwaukee Do This Time?

  • How can you improve on a ratchet?

It is a simple tool. Where most focus is on redesigning the tool, Team Red decided to work on the mechanisms inside and the design. A standout feature is how many teeth this ratchet has in its head. It contains ninety teeth, operates with a minor swinging motion, 4 degrees to be precise, and is especially useful in tight and cramped spaces.

A few noticeable design changes are the handle, the lever, and the tool’s material. The handle, compared to others, is not as bulky. You still have a rounded handle that helps with easy turning actions, but a flat top for better gripping is needed.

  • Great for when your hands or gloves get covered in grease or other fluids.

Milwaukee has also flushed the lever more, so switching between loosening or tightening is easy. It is valuable and comfortable when you are already in a cramped space, and the parts you need to fix are next together. Realistically, you might have loosened the wrong bolt and must undo what you did halfway through. Instead of pulling your arm out, changing the direction, and finding a way back in, you flip the switch and fix it there.

Finally, the tool’s material has a sleek chrome finish. This ratchet can handle a rough garage and still come out shiny. With the chrome, it can get covered in oil and wipe off, giving your tools and shop the professional look that customers want.

Let’s Talk About Sockets

How often can you not find the right socket for your project? The socket is just as crucial as the ratchet itself; no work can be done without it. No work will get done without seeing the right one for the job. Milwaukee wanted to help solve that issue by engraving it into the socket.

Unless you can estimate the size of your sockets, having these easy-to-feelings and seeing numbers makes picking out the right one a breeze. Engraved to two of the flat sides of the sockets is the size of that one, providing visible information. So, instead of flipping out each one to check the size, you can pick the one you need.

What’s In the Box (Case)?

You will have a different measuring system or both, depending on your kit. Regardless, for each kit, you receive the ratchet itself, an assortment of standard sockets, deep well sockets, and accessories for the ratchet, along with the case. As accessories go, you receive a 3” and 6” extension, a universal joint, a removable inner storage tray, and a bright red tool case.

The tray is compatible with steel chests, like Milwaukee’s steel storage unit. Perfect for a stable garage, and with the case, great for someone on the go.

Final Thoughts

A mechanic needs tools that can work in grim, tight spaces and do not bog them down. The Milwaukee Ratchet and Socket Set will give you that in addition to a cool chrome look. You will be able to get into tight places and still be able to work. Thanks to its ninety teeth mechanism, you will not even need a lot of room to turn it. Easy-to-see and feel socket heads mean reduced searching for the right one. You can get it dirty and wipe it off with a chrome finish, cleaning it as if it were out of the box.

Like the square design but why would anyone think to wrap a wrench around, and possibly scratching up, that thing of beauty?

Hello, Thank you for your comment. We agree that the sockets are a work of art but they are as useful as they are beautiful. If you are in an emergency situation and need extra torque on a bolt where the ratchet cannot get into you will do just about anything. Also, any marks a wrench will leave will be nothing compared to what a slip-joint pliers or locking pliers will leave on them.

      Thank you,
      Acme Tools

    *untighten* 😂
Out in the world we just say “loosen”.

These tools look really neat. I wonder how the OD compares to the grey pneumatic duo sockets.
