Makita is pulling the curtain back on the next level of cordless power with XGT. Their new 40V system of cordless equipment and tools goes beyond the limits of imagination and expectations for high-end industrial applications. Makita has been producing lithium-ion batteries since 2005 and will use its innovative engineering to push XGT into the future by outperforming, outsmarting, and outlasting the competition.
Makita XGT Features
The XGT line will feature over 50 products compatible with the new XGT 40V max batteries. Two XGT 40V max batteries can be combined with the system for 80 volts of total power. For XGT to outpower, outsmart, and outlast the market, it needs top-of-its-class battery and tool technology.
Makita will outpower comparable products with purpose-built brushless motors with more copper windings for higher power output. In addition, high-quality rare-earth magnets within XGT brushless motors maximize power and performance.
Built-in microchips create real-time communication between the tool and the battery to outsmart the competition. Heat, overload, and over-discharge are monitored during that communication to ensure maximum efficiency. Also, communication between the tool and battery creates up to double sustained power under heavy load.
The system also detects knock-off batteries, limiting function and power to an XGT tool and charging only a specific percentage on an XGT charger. The new XGT rapid charger can fill a 2.5 Ah XGT battery to total capacity in just 28 minutes, and a 4.0Ah battery can be fully charged in 45 minutes.
Each XGT tool is IPX4-rated to outlast competitors in the most challenging conditions. A durable outer casing and cell holder create space within the battery to absorb impact, elongating battery life.
