DeWalt Drill drilling into a wall

DeWalt’s NEW Six-Tool ATOMIC Compact Series

What you get with the new ATOMIC compact series is that DeWalt goes small to fit into the tightest areas on your job site. These new tools make working in cramped spaces easier and work overhead more comfortable with their lightweight. Though not compromising in power, these tools will do the job, take up a fraction of the space, and reduce any physical strain during use.

What’s Different?

The most obvious and noticeable of these tools is the size difference from their standard designs. You get 12V size tools with these tools but still retain 20V power. All the devices have an ergonomic feel that will fit into your hand, give access to confined spaces, offer excellent balance, and all at a fraction of the weight, making it a better option for those needing maneuverability.

Who’s the User?

The users of these tools vary across multiple fields. Still, anyone who has worked in a cramped space can appreciate any of these machines, from specialty trades like electricians and plumbers who would need a tool to drill, burrow holes, and secure all kinds of fasteners. However, they also have a use for trade professionals like general contractors and remodelers who need versatility and portability.

What’s Available Now?

As of writing this post, DeWalt will be releasing two tools for Spring 2019. Those are the 20V MAX Compact Impact Driver (DCF809C2) and the 20V MAX Compact Drill/Driver (DCD708C2). You can receive either one as a bare tool or a kit. You can also get both devices in one kit with a Compact 2-Tool Combo Kit (DCK278C2). With the kit, you receive the tool itself, a tool bag, a charger, and (2) compact 1.3Ah batteries. They plan to release other tools later on in the year.

What Other Tools?

DeWalt plans to release more throughout the year and even has plans for early 2020.  During that time, in the Fall of 2019, they plan to release the 20V MAX Compact Hammer Drill/Driver (DCD709C2), Circular Saw (DCS571P1), and Oscillating Multi-Tool (DCS354B). Then, in early 2020, DeWalt plans to release their 20V MAX Compact Reciprocating Saw.

How Much?

For either the Drill/Driver or the Impact Driver kit, it would come out to $159 MSRP; for the bare tool, it would be $119 MSRP. As for the other machines, their prices vary on each tool. For the 20V MAX Compact Hammer Drill/Driver, the kit would cost $179 MSRP, and the bare tool would cost $129 MSRP. The 20V MAX Compact Circular Saw costs $269 MSRP for the kit and $149 for the bare tool. As for the 20V MAX Compact Oscillating Multi-Tool will only be released as a bare tool and is priced at $129 MSRP.

The 20V MAX Compact Reciprocating Saw (DCS369) is still waiting for a price, but we will update this article as soon as we find out more details about the tools as they come.

Final Thoughts

Any trades professional to any level of DIYer would appreciate these tools as they pack all the power you need to get the job done at a fraction of the weight and size. ATOMIC will simplify working in a tight spa while reducing user fatigue. This brand is a new step for DeWalt to make the job more accessible, safer, and more efficient for anyone using our tools.
