A board is ripped on a Milwaukee M18 FUEL 8-1/4 inch Table Saw

A table saw might be the most important tool in any workshop. The primary function of a table saw is to cut larger pieces of wood into smaller, manageable sizes. A table saw is much more versatile though. They’re capable of ripping, crosscutting, bevel cuts, cutting rabbets and grooves, kerfing, and cutting joints.

Once you reach the point where you decide to purchase a table saw the task can seem daunting. There are many things to consider, such as model type, blade size, and rip capacity. One of the largest considerations is the type of table saw. There are portable types, such as benchtop, compact, jobsite, and stationary types, such as cabinet, hybrid, and contractor. Ultimately it comes down to your specific needs when choosing a table saw, whether you have a smaller shop, will be making many cuts, on a tighter budget, or are worried about the portability of the saw. We are here to help with the decision on a table saw with a list of the best ones in multiple categories and a detailed breakdown of a handful of features.

I appreciate the helpful comparison of the best table saws. I’m fairly new to woodworking, and until recently I was using an old table saw that used to belong to my dad. Long story short, it’s no longer usable, and so I’m looking for a good table saw to buy that’s beginner-friendly. I have my eye on the DEWALT DW745 – evidently it’s really popular and does a great job. I’ve taken a look at some other sites for more ideas. Your guide here is great. What is your opinion on the DW745?

Hello, Thank you for your comments and question. The DeWalt DW745 has been a solid performing table saw and because of the size is easily moved from place to place. The DeWalt Rack and Pinion Fence is one of the most accurate fence systems on the market. We would recommend this saw to most users.

      Thank you,

What comparison? This post gave zero objective information about any of these saws. Zero. The only good news is that in each price range they’re all pretty good and will not rip you off. But this blog post adds nothing to mnfct specs.

Hi Paul, Thank you for your comment. As stated in our reply to Mr. Lee this post was not intended to serve as a review on these table saws but instead it was to inform customers as to what our popular table saws are. Each saw has its features and benefits that are more important to different customers and this information will allow the customer to quickly see what are the popular units are.

This “review” is a giant nothingBurger. There is not one scrap of objective comparison between these saws. Because you sell them, they’re all great and will all zip right through “the hardest woods”. Bulll$hit. You did not test, compare, analyze, or use ANY of these saws. Re-hashinf manufacturer specs is a “Roundup” but it certainly is not a review. Typical sales pablum.

Hello, Thank you for your comment. We apologize for any issues our Top Table Saws of 2018 blog post has caused. It was not written to be a comparative review of the different saws but a list of the top saws that we are currently selling. It would be unfair to compare performance of a portable jobsite table saw to a industrial cabinet saw and then also compare them on price. If you would like to read a very good comparative post we suggest you check out ProToolReviews.com. They are not tied to any manufacturers and have a very unbiased opinion.

      Thank you,

Hi Eric, At the time this post was created the Milwaukee table saw had not been fully tested and reviewed. We will be updating this post in 2019 and the Milwaukee Table Saw will be included. So far it has been a great performer and if you are already on the Milwaukee M18 battery platform a solid choice for a portable jobsite type table saw.

      Thank you,

Hello, Thank you for your comment. We have been a full line Jet Distributor for over 25 years. We do sell the Jet table saws but for some reason or another they did not make the list. Jet’s Table saws are high quality and offer a great value but it seems that in all cases we looked at there was a different unit that performed slightly better. This does not mean that the Jet table saws are bad, it just means that in our categories they didn’t come out in the #1 position.

      Thank you,
